Tax Traders’ journey towards B Corp status

The number of New Zealand businesses achieving recognition as Certified B Corporations (B Corps) is on the rise. One such business is Tax Traders, a New Zealand-based tax pooling intermediary and Crombie Lockwood client whose certification shows its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

A force for good
Crombie Lockwood and Tax Traders formed a connection through the Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CA ANZ) Member Benefits Programme, where Crombie Lockwood offers advice and expert opinion on insurance to CA ANZ members.
Crombie Lockwood conducted a comprehensive gap analysis of Tax Traders' previous insurance programme and rectified key gaps in their coverage. The result was a future-proofed programme that will help their business grow with certainty, just as its B Corp Certification will do.
“The first time we heard about B Corp was at a CA ANZ conference in 2019,” Josh Taylor, founder of Tax Traders, told Acuity magazine recently.
“One of the speakers was talking about the benefits and it was like he was speaking our language. We’d found a group of like-minded people who were just as passionate as we were about wanting business to be a force for good.”
Tax Traders set off on the path towards B Corp and was awarded its certification in March 2022. The company has since been recognised as being amongst ‘The Best for the World’ in the governance impact area of certification, scoring in the top 5% of all B Corps across the globe in having exemplary governance practices, including ethics, accountability and transparency.
Working together
Like Tax Traders, Crombie Lockwood recognises sustainability as critical to protecting New Zealand’s future and long-term wellbeing of our communities, our people, our environment and economy.
