Crombie Lockwood has been awarded a HRD New Zealand Employers of Choice award for 2023 reflecting its excellence in leadership, engagement, communication and employee benefits.
Crombie Lockwood has once again been recognised as one of the best organisations to work for in New Zealand.
The company has been awarded a HRD (Human Resources Director) New Zealand Employers of Choice award for 2023, joining seven other businesses including Spark New Zealand, Flight Centre, and Samsung Electronics as winners in the 200-plus employee category.
The HRD awards honour New Zealand employers for their achievements and innovation in the human resources (HR) profession over the past 12 months. Judges select annual employers of choice based on the leadership, engagement, company communication and the employee benefits they offer their people.
Crombie Lockwood adheres strongly to its company values and client care principles, which form the backbone of the organisation’s culture and guide relationships with its people and clients.
Scott Cresswell, Crombie Lockwood Executive – People and Culture, says the organisation is “constantly looking to improve our people experience and looking to invest in staff in line with our people strategy of ‘Perform, Lead, Grow’.”
“Everyone has experienced significant disruption to their personal and professional lives over the past few years. Our people are no different, with Covid-19 lock downs and the return to the office being challenging for almost 1,000 people who work with us around the country.”
Scott says that Crombie Lockwood has used this disruption as “opportunity to partner with our people, having conversations with them about what they need for our organisation to be the best place to work.”

As a result, there have been a number of changes in the way Crombie Lockwood recognises its people, including increased investment in leadership development and training programmes and enabling more flexible working.
Additional benefits have also been added for employees, such as lifestyle leave, 16 weeks' paid parental leave for primary carers and a self-service wellbeing platform.
A focus on helping people build their career path within the business with internal promotions where possible, as well as embracing diversity and enabling progression beyond New Zealand into our global parent Gallagher’s network are also part of being recognised as an Employer of Choice.
Scott says “Crombie Lockwood is a national leader in insurance broking and risk management services. We place a lot of importance on open, honest communication with our people, and that shows in the clear understanding our people have of what is expected of them."
Crombie Lockwood is very proud to receive the award for the third time
