Gallagher Golden Goals competition lights up NPC games

We are excited about the future of provincial rugby in New Zealand and want to play our part in fostering a strong and vibrant rugby culture, especially in our local communities.

To help develop our national sport at the grass-roots level, we have established a multi-year partnership with the 14 major provincial unions that play in the men’s Bunnings Warehouse National Provincial Championship and the women’s Farah Palmer Cup.

We have kicked off our partnership with the Gallagher Golden Goals competition, which is proving to be a highlight at this season’s NPC games. The half-time activity offers a lucky fan the chance to win up to $5,000 by landing a goal from different distances on the field. To date, some have succeeded in getting the ball over the posts from the 22m mark but no-one has yet scored the $5,000 golden goal from the 40m mark.  As the NPC competition heats up, there’s still time to score the big prize.

Jay Campbell, CEO Hawkes Bay Rugby, says the Gallagher Golden Goals competition is a great way to get people actively involved with the games.

“It has been brilliant to see various fans take the opportunity to kick at goal. The competition has been an outstanding vehicle for promoting rugby and the NPC and showcasing our national partnership with Gallagher".

Carl O’Shea, Gallagher CEO, says rugby has a significant role in building communities and hopes our partnership with the provincial rugby unions will encourage people’s lifelong involvement with sport, whether as players, coaches, sideline supporters or because they enjoy watching the game.

“Our role as Official National Partner with the New Zealand Provincial Rugby Union is a reflection of our desire to give back to the local communities who have supported us for nearly 50 years.”
